Creating Space

Creating space is an art form.  Most musicians will tell you that it is often what you don’t play – as much as what you do play – that makes a great song.

That created space allows the song to live and “breathe.”  We are no different.

It’s incredible when you have a thought rolling around in your head or your days seem to take on a theme.  The last few days have been about creating space.  Today’s sermon at church was also about creating space.  Brad used the example of thatching and clearing moss from a lawn in order to allow space for the grass to take root and grow in a healthy way.  Colossians 3 speaks to stripping off the things of our old lives (creating space) so that we might clothe ourselves in a new life.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Colossians 3:12-14

We had our final garage sale.  We sold some remaining items on Craigslist and to friends and family.  We’re physically creating space, but at the same time we’re creating space for God to do something new in our lives.  Selling all of your stuff and moving to somewhere you’ve never been is an incredible exercise and, so far, I highly recommend it.

Create some space so you can live out the incredible song written for you.
